2019’s biggest surprise for Dragon Ball fans was the announcement of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. A new and intriguing action RPG game that takes a new open-world take on the franchise. Ever since its announcement, more details about the game has slowly been pouring in. It was recently revealed that the game would also feature the Cell saga alongside the already confirmed Saiyan and Namek Sagas as previewed in the trailer.
In the latest issue of the Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine, along with the confirmation of the Cell Saga, several new mysterious characters have also been revealed. The Game will supposedly include a former member of the Ginyu force, who was not a part of the force in the anime. The new female character, named Bonyu, was an elite warrior within Frieza’s army who left the Ginyu force because she did not like their eccentric poses before entering a battle.
As teased by the new details, the new character is named ‘Bonyu’ and is from the same planet as Jeice. Although no game concept art or character design has been shared, the new character is described to be ‘Busty’ which highlights one of the many features of the upcoming mysterious warrior. Bonyu might be either a very serious soldier who takes her job seriously or could be a comedic character that has her own poses that don’t align with the others. The Busty part of her description most likely implies the goofier latter.
Further details also confirmed that the game would feature extended stories fleshing out from the original canon of the anime series. However, it’s still not clear if the creator Akira Toriyama will be involved in the creation of these characters and their backstories. There are still many questions that remained unanswered, hopefully, more details about the game will arrive soon. Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is officially slated to release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in early 2020.
