Over the past couple of decades, Dragon Ball has entertained its viewers by its amazing battles and dramatic storylines. The main source of attraction has always been the Super Saiyan transformation. The first Super Saiyan transformation is very popular and fans know a lot about it but very little is known about Super Saiyan 2 or even Super Saiyan 3. So, we have listed down five facts about the transformation that you may not know about.
Dragon Ball: Five Facts about SSJ2
Super Saiyan 2 appearance
Although the Super Saiyan 2 Transformation greatly improves the battle prowess of the Saiyan warriors it doesn’t look any different to its predecessor. On closer inspection, there is a slight change in the hair which get spikier and the hair rises a little. An electric field also envelops the user probably due to the immense surge of energy.
Super Saiyan 2 is faster and more agile
Prior to the Super Saiyan 2 form, Vegeta was able to achieve the Ascended Super Saiyan form also known as Super Saiyan Second Grade. Goku was also able to achieve this form but he instantly stopped using it. The form has several drawbacks, the greatest being the major drop in speed due to the bulky muscles. Super Saiyan 2 was far superior both in power and in speed making it the perfect Super Saiyan transformation.
SSJ2 can be achieved in multiple ways
Throughout the series, we have seen different Saiyan’s unlock their transformations. Goku was able to achieve Super Saiyan by going through powerful emotions, he even taught this to Gohan during their training in the Hyperbolic time chamber. Vegeta was able to transform due to intense training. A Saiyan can also transform if they are in a desperate situation where their lives are in danger. The Universe 6 Saiyan’s were able to unlock SSJ2 with a tingly feeling in their back.
Super Saiyan 2 is 100x stronger than an Ordinary Saiyan
According to the Dragon Ball Manga, Super Saiyan 2 is 100x stronger than an Ordinary Saiyan. As an SSJ2 is twice as strong as a regular Super Saiyan than that means that a regular Super Saiyan is 50x stronger than an ordinary Saiyan. This may all sound confusing but if you do your math everything adds up perfectly.
Super Saiyan 2 is weaker but better than SSJ3
There has always been a lot of debates between fans as to which transformation is better, SSJ2 or SSJ3. The Dragon Ballmanga has already made it clear that Super Saiyan 3 is 4 times as powerful as Super Saiyan 2. But the form comes with major drawbacks making it almost useless. The immense amount of wasted energy and the difficulty of the transformation is the reason why Goku never uses it very often. Super Saiyan 2 may be weaker but it is a much more perfect transformation than SSJ3.
